Default Playing dwarves?

Are these what dwarves look like? http://guildwars.com/gallery/conceptart/concept008.html

If so wow that'd be "awesome" to play as in later chapters wouldn't you all think so and agree? (sorry I bet theres tons of topics like this, but I don't like ressurecting old threads ... err well not sure if there is any old threads like this)

Anyhow if they do allow another playable race like dwarves or charr I hope they don't mix in any racial traits or stuff like that. The only thing that should be different is just overall appearance, starting area, and background story like how humans have pre-searing ascalon and the likes of that.

Thus ensuring that you won't see a city with a whole mix-bag of races (I'm not racist.. ) Also it could add a whole new PvP option (Race vs Race) Like how the war is currently. Hmm come to think of it that'd be a great idea to install and it'll also ensure a lot of roleplaying when you have for example:

A famous guild from the charr side entering a warzonelikearea against a famous human guild and they duke it out and not only will they make their guild more famous for winning, but ensuring that their nation is stronger or something

err.... I'm sleepy so not too positive of what I'm actually spitting out of my mouth (keyboard)
So please if you have any offense toward my post, I am sorry
But so far what do you guys think of the idea?
"Scrap-it or Interesting?"

No, those definitely were not Dwarves in that Concept Art picture. First thing that came to mind when I saw that picture was that it was one of the Warg Riders from LoTR.

There are other threads about having other playable races, but I'm heading downstairs to eat breakfast right now, otherwise I'd dig up the link(s).

Those *are* dwarves; "Summit Beastmasters" actually.

Is there even an option to play a dwarf in this game? I understood that you can modify your appearance to a great deal.

Humans are the only playable race in this initial chapter of Guild Wars.

They have been consistantly adding more features for modification... it's not the *best* or most varied Character Creation you'll ever use, but I'm happy with it... and I like a lot of customization, personally.

There is certainly the option to add Dwarves in the next expansion. Their height makes a great "filter" to explain why the first chapter characters cannot enter the Dwarven Underground.

Maybe even Dwarves would have "Dark Sight" and that also would be used to "filter" first chapter characters. A partially underground city would be the interface between the two races.

Agreed. It would really develop the world even more in depth to those of us who enjoy it. We would get to see the history from different views.

I like it. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I'm all for different races to play, but I just hope there is more of a reason to them if they are added than just giving more visual options than human.

Those are actually dwarves ... riding giants. Look at the chapter of lore on dwarves and they mention it.

I was reading the lore and I didn't quite grasp how huge they were? Does anyone know the approximate height compared to humans?

"They were huge and hairy and covered at the head and arms with finely worked metal armor."
That was the only description I found on the section that they mentioned about the Dwarves. At times like this I wish there are roleplay forums to discuss about the lore of guildwar more indepth don't you all agree?

Damn, didn't look like any of the Dwarves I remembered.

But now that I took a second look, I do remember fighting against some of the riding guys...

In the game, dwarves seemed like waist-chest height, depending on your character's own height of course. So average compared to how they are in a lot of games I'd say.

And they're tough little suckers, too. And the beasts they ride... ugh!

I would likely become a dwarf if they had the option, but I would definitely like to see some new races in the future of GW...

Well since they are already in the game, I'd say that have a very good chance of being a playable race one day. That is if we actually do get other playable races . I never really liked BEING a dwarf, but I have always liked them nonetheless.

Does anyone know all of the possible races in Guildwars so far that might be playable. All I can think of is Charr and Dwarves. Since I haven't gotten far into the game I haven't met all the areas races. Geez wonder what female charrs and dwarves would look like... im trying to imagine, but it shivers me.

Grawls/Trogs, Caromi. Maybe even Gargoyles, Imps, Mergoyles, Minotaurs, and/or Centaurs depending on their civilizaton/background. Guess it depends on where they want to go with the game. Would be cool if they didn't stick to really "human" kind of creatures like in other games. Would love more diversity in civilization and culture.
